What happens after a report?
We assess reports based on the information provided, the nature and apparent severity of the issue, the applicable law and our contractual policies.
Depending on the circumstances, we may:
- request additional information from the reporter;
- contact the customer responsible for the affected service;
- request remediation;
- restrict or suspend affected services;
- block or isolate specific network traffic or infrastructure;
- preserve relevant information where legally permitted or required;
- notify relevant network or security parties; or
- notify competent authorities where required or appropriate.
We do not automatically treat every allegation as established fact. Reports are assessed individually and appropriate action is determined according to the circumstances and applicable legal and contractual requirements.
For serious or urgent threats to the security of people, systems or networks, we may take immediate protective measures.
Confidentiality
We handle abuse reports confidentially to the extent reasonably possible. However, information may need to be shared with the affected customer, service providers, competent authorities or other relevant parties where necessary to investigate, respond to or resolve the matter, or where required by law.
Acknowledgement and decisions
Where required by applicable law, we will acknowledge and assess notices concerning suspected illegal content and communicate the outcome to the relevant parties.
Where we restrict or suspend a service on the basis that customer-provided information is illegal or violates our terms, we may provide the affected customer with the reasons for the decision as required by applicable law.
